Become Responsible
Acts 28: 25-28
Therefore thou art inexcusable O man, whosoever thou art that judgest: for
wherein thou judgest another, thou condemn thyself; for thou that judgest
doest the same things" Romans 2: 1. Those who say evil things about evil
men are themselves doing evil. Most people usually do this to cause
distraction from their own evil actions. It takes an irresponsible person to
blame another person to for his or her problems.
Responsible men and women consider how their actions affect the faith of
others, in other words, they are self-less. To become responsible, we must
endeavour to first of all judge ourselves harshly before judging others. Jesus
Christ admonished us to remove the log in our eyes before we can remove
the same log in another person's eyes. Responsible people don't compare
themselves with others as the Jews normally do whereby they condemn
others who are not descendants of Abraham. As Christians, we should be
more concerned about our personal development than criticizing or
complaining about others.
The Jews failed to recognize themselves as the source of their own
problems. Remember, a person has not failed until he starts to blame others
for his problems. When the Jews were being led through the wilderness to
the Promised Land, they easily blamed Moses for every challenge that they
encountered. Responsible Christians don't wait for others to do what they
are supposed to do by themselves.
Prayer:
Dear Lord, give me the grace to constantly examine myself and live above
self in all things, through Christ our Lord. Amen.
